Comment Opportunities
Public and agency involvement will be critical throughout the preparation of the FS/EIS. A 30-day public comment period ended on February 15, 2008. A Scoping Report that documents the results of the scoping process has been prepared. Comments received during scoping will be considered during preparation of a Draft FS/EIS. Upon completion of the Draft FS/EIS, a 45-day public comment period, public hearings, and other public review opportunities will be provided.
Although the scoping comment period has concluded, interested parties can comment at any time by:
- Submitting a comment using this website's comment form, or
- Mailing, faxing or e-mailing a letter to: Eric Bluhm, U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Programs and Project Management Division, Planning Branch; P.O. Box 2946, Portland, OR 97208-2946; Fax: 503-808-4736; E-mail: eric.v.bluhm@usace.army.mil.
Every comment is important and all opinions, feelings, suggestions, and observations will be carefully read and considered. However, "substantive" comments are the most valuable. A substantive comment is one that "...provides factual information, professional opinion, or informed judgment germane to the action being proposed."
The review of public comments is not a vote-counting process. All comments carry the same weight, regardless of whether they are expressed once or in a hundred separate e-mail messages or letters. Petitions and form comments are counted as single responses and carry no more weight than individual comments.
